We are going to preface all of our candidate spotlights with this statement;
This post, this page, and any other distribution channels are in no way affiliated with or paid for by any candidate or candidate's committee.
Candidates were given equal access to voluntarily contribute information for consideration for our candidate spotlight pieces.
Finally, we feel strongly that too much focus is placed on the party and not the person. For this reason, we are not listing the party for which the candidate is registered or running. We want to end the bias of party preference voting. Get to know the person and forget the party lines.
That said, this candidate spotlight will focus on; Ronnie Irwin, who goes by the name of Ron. Ron is running for a 4-year term as a Crawford Central School Director.
Ron Irwin resides in Cochranton, PA, and has grandchildren within the Crawford Central School District. He is a business owner and has a professional background in maintenance. Specifically, according to his LinkedIn profile, Ron's professional background is as follows;
*Sales/truck driver for Erie Industrial Electric from Jan 1983-Jan 1984
*Head of Maintenance at PA Tool & Gages from June 1984-June 2003
*Maintenance & Safety Coordinator for Penncrest School District from June 2003-Nov 2008
*Independent Consultant for Ambit Energy from Apr 2013-Present
*Owner Irwin Properties, LLC from Nov 2005-Present
Ron also currently owns Stateside Laundromat with his family. Which he says has allowed him to get to know the community better, as well as give back through various fundraising events. Some non-profits who have benefited from these fundraising events are; Make-A-Wish, Cans for Wishes, Not One More NWPA, Project Support Our Troops, French Creek Valley Railroad Historic Society, Anna Shelter, Jimmy Moore Christmas Party, American Cancer Society, Thankful Thursdays, and Shriners Children's Hospital. Ron also owns Irwin Properties with his family, where his focus is on the maintenance and improvements side of the business. Both businesses entail financial accuracy and understanding, which Ron has experience in. Ron has a working understanding of profit and loss statements, as well as balancing a budget. He prides himself on keeping costs low for not only himself but for his tenants and customers as well. To do this, Ron has stated he must be fiscally responsible and attentive to his business's true needs, so as to not overspend on his budget.
On a personal level, Ron has volunteered his time with various parent organizations, in which his daughters were participating. Some examples include the YMCA Majestics, Meadville Gymnastics, and Cochranton Marching Band Boosters. Ron also spearheaded the project for the Cochranton Football Field Lights, and has volunteered for Make A Difference Day.
When asked why electors should choose him for the role, Ron stated he is not shy about doing the right thing, speaking up when necessary, and that he feels he is highly qualified for the role. One thing that Ron would like to see changed regarding how things are currently run, is that he would like the budget discussions and work surrounding the budget to be more hands-on.
Now for the nitty gritty research, which is not based on any candidate-supplied information;
On Ron's record, we found that in September 2019, he was charged with driving an unregistered vehicle. In October 2021, Ron made the following post regarding the charge;
